On Monday and Tuesday the Cubs looked like the team from several weeks ago that made mental mistakes, left a lot of runners on base, and lost close games. However, on Wednesday, Sergio Mitre stepped up big with seven shoutout innings and an RBI double against one of the league's best pitchers, Roy Halladay, as the Cubs won over the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0. This is a big win as the Cubs avoid the sweep and go into their first off day in nearly three weeks with a little momentum back. Sergio Mitre has been up and down this year but gave his best outing of the year up to this point when the team really needed it. He might have been pitching to keep his job in the rotation but certainly earned at least one or two more outings. Up next is the big series with the Boston Red Sox -- whom the Cardinals have been beating up on the last two days. They'll then wrap up the homestand with the Florida Marlins, who have been struggling. Win both of those series and the Cubs turn a rough start on the homestand into a winning record.
