Justin is making a strong case for rookie of the year and if it wasn’t for Papelbon in Boston would be the run away favorite. Verlander earned his seventh victory on the season and lowered his ERA to an incredible 2.55. Magglio Ordonez powered the offense with a two run homer in the bottom of the first. That would be all the support Verlander needed. Detroit added an insurance run in the eighth on a run scoring single by Polanco. Fernando Rodney worked the eighth for his seventh hold. Todd Jones picked up his 16th save.
