Once again the Tigers can’t seem to get over the White Sox hump. This time the game seemed to be going Detroit’s way. They led 3-1 with one out in the top of the eighth and steady Fernando Rodney on the mound. The White Sox magic returned in the form of a game deciding 3 run homer off the bat of Alex Cintron, who entered the game without a home run on the season. The late inning loss moves the White Sox within a game and a half of the first place Tigers.

The Tigers offense cashed in with solo home runs off the starter Freddy Garcia. Marcus Thames, Chris Shelton and Brandon Inge all went yard. Nate Robertson pitched well limiting Chicago to one run in six innings. Joel Zumaya pitched out of a bases loaded jam to hold the lead until Rodney surrendered it in the eighth. Rodney struggled with his control as he walked two batters before giving up the home run to Cintron. At some point Detroit will get over the hump against the rival White Sox and hopefully for Tigers fans it is soon. Detroit is now 2-7 in their last nine ball games.

*** OEs 3 Stars of the Game ***
