Ouch!!! What a waste. The Tigers bullpen imploded…quickly. Bonderman pitched a solid game and left after the sixth inning with a 5-2 lead. Joel Zumaya picked up his fifteenth hold with a scoreless seventh. Jamie Walker got his third hold of the year by getting the first out in the eighth inning. After that…things went bad, very bad for the Tigers. Fernando Rodney was not able to get an out and by the time he left giving up three runs the game was tied. Todd Jones came in and he couldn’t record an out either. He was charged with the blown save and loss. He was hammered for four runs allowed. Bobby Seay came on to get the final two outs, but gave up another run for good measure. By this time the Tiger turned a potential victory to a 10-5 loss.

Detroit’s offense played small ball in the second inning getting two runs on RBI singles by Curtis Granderson and Magglio Ordonez. Placido Polanco hit a two run homer to left in the fifth inning, his third on the season. In the sixth the Tigers added a RBI single off the bat of Brandon Inge. It looked like the offense and starting pitching did well enough to earn the win for Detroit. However, the bullpen let them down in this game. This is a game to forget about the horrible ending and come back strong the next night. Look for a strong performance from the Tigers following this disappointing loss.

*** OEs 3 Stars of the Game ***

#3 Brandon Inge – 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 1 BB and 1 RBI
#2 Placido Polanco – 1-5 with a run scored, a HR and 2 RBI
