Hello Baseball Geeks,

I just completed my first ever fantasy baseball draft and here are the results. I look forward to feedback from fellow baseball geeks. I’ve played fantasy baseball in the past, but never had a live draft before. Let me give the parameters of the league so there is a context to the team. The OEDs had the fourth pick in a 10 team league with a serpentine draft. The scoring is weekly head-to-head based on 21 categories. The hitting categories are R, H, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, AVG, OPS. For pitching the stats are W, L, CG, SHO, SV, BB, HLD, ERA, WHIP, K/9. So there are a lot of categories to take into account. Here are the results…hopefully this will be helpful to others in draft preparation.

The round is listed 1st followed by the pick #

1. (4) M. Teixeira 1B
2. (17) C. Utley 2B
3. (24) R. Halladay SP
4. (37) M. Ensberg 3B
5. (44) M. Buehrle SP
6. (57) J. Mauer C
7. (64) J. Beckett SP
8. (77) J. Peralta SS

15. (144) B. Wickman RP
16. (157) M. Mussina SP
17. (164) W. Taveras OF
18. (177) B. Radke SP

I think you did very good, especially your starting pitchers! Hitting looks pretty good too.

Wow. You were able to get Utley with the 16th pick? SWEET.

I really like this team. You major hole is the Holds category. In the end, I think you did very well. Let's hope that Halladay and Griffey stay healthy the whole year! If so, you are looking very good.

Not a bad draft at all. The one thing I would worry about is the health of your top starting pitchers. Beckett, Halladay, Mussina, and Penny all spent significant time on the DL last year. Probably took Bill Hall a little early too, considering he's know gonna play the "Shane Halter" role with Fielder at First, Weeks at Second, Hardy at Short and Coskie at Third.

On the plus side, Dye was a steal in the twentieth round, Taveras is primed for a great year, and Peralta is going to be a monster in the middle of that Cleveland line-up. You still won't beat me though
