Thank you for the great pitching performance Mike Maroth. For the second straight game the Tigers’ offense provided little, but Maroth was able to make a home run for Chris Shelton stand as the difference in the game. Maroth has this start pushed back three days because of a sore elbow and made it worth Detroit’s wait. He pitched 7 shut-out innings before the bullpen duo of Zumaya and Rodney completely shut the door on the Tribe. This game was a pitcher’s dual in the greatest sense of the term. Cliff Lee pitched valiantly for Cleveland only giving up a home run to Shelton his 8th of the season. The Tigers are fortunate to pull out this game with great pitching to pull into a three-way tie atop the AL Central with the Indians and White Sox.

*** OEs 3 Stars of the Game ***

#3 Chris Shelton – 2-3 with a HR
#2 Fernando Rodney – earned his 3rd save in a 1-2-3 ninth
#1 Mike Maroth – 7 scoreless allowing only 3 hits, 2 BB with 5 Ks, 0.73 ERA for 2006

On Tap – Game 13 v. Cleveland Indians, April 17th 1:05 ET
Nate Robertson (1-1, 4.38) v. Paul Bird (1-1, 10.24)
